ABOUT THE WEBINAR
During this session, attendees will engage in an interactive dialogue exploring the potential of positive youth and adult partnerships to foster positive transformations within our schools and communities. Within the framework of our Child and Adolescent Health Centers, students find avenues to voice their community interests and champion programs aimed at enhancing the well-being of youth. Participants will gain insights into effective strategies, best practices, and valuable lessons for effectively collaborating with youth and setting positive examples.

WEBINAR OBJECTIVES: At the end of this session, participants would be able to:
  • Describe their ability to identify best practices for engaging youth.
  • Identify 2-5 values that schools and communities can gain by involving youth in leadership initiatives.
  • List 3 leadership skills that emerge through collaboration between youth and adults.

ABOUT THE PRESENTERS
Qur'an Griffin, MA, CPSserves as the Coordinator of Adolescent Health at District Health Department #10, where she holds a pivotal role in overseeing their 9 Adolescent Health/Student Wellness Centers and Youth Community Advisory Councils. With a career beginning in 2008, Qur'an specializes in prevention, risk reduction, and trauma-informed practices.

Qur'an holds a Bachelor of Science degree from Ferris State University and a Master of Arts in Communication from Jones International University. Additionally, she possesses a Certificate of Sexual Health from the University of Michigan, a Certificate of Trauma-Informed Care from Michigan State University and is recognized as an Adverse Childhood Experiences Master Trainer. She is also distinguished as a MCBAP Certified Prevention Specialist.

Ashley Sharpe, RN is a lifelong resident of Hartford, Michigan. She began her medical career in 2003 as a medical assistant and graduated with honor from Lake Michigan College in 2010 with an associate degree in nursing. Ashley has worked in community health at InterCare Community Health Network since Jul y 2012. She is a registered nurse and working with the youth at the Benton Harbor High School Student Health Center is the highlight of Ashley's career and gives her hope for the future.
